TI is much less interested in open source than any of the other makers I've 
dealt with, including Freescale, ST Micro, Atmel, Luminary Micro, etc.
 
Even NXP is slightly more supportative of open source than TI is. And NXP is 
normally invisible when it comes to general support.
 
This is not a slam against TI's tech support, by the way. TI has very 
repectable tech support in general. They just don't want to put any effort into 
open source, and that's due to a company policy and not the preference of 
individual employees. TI does have among the best employees.
