It's the other way round: the hard disk interfaces do not support MSX1. 
Why not? This is why: MSX-DOS2 needs an MSX2 with memory mapper to run 
(and you don't want to set the system time every time you boot 
MSX-DOS...!). And without MSX-DOS2 there isn't much use of a hard 
disk... (no subdirectories...)
