+1 for some kind of manually sorted list, sorting with drag-n-drop. Clearly, some details still need to be figured out; but I fully support the overall concept, and I also like Nick's and Richard's suggestions, and how Andrey has described his vision of it also (Preserving the Manual Sort order will be important to users).
We must also consider what affect "Zoom-in" will have, which could actually be leveraged to an advantage: > ... provide for 'named lists' where one could name and save > a list and then choose which lists to have on display in the > To Do View. Eg one could have the 'Must Do Today' list > followed by the 'Task list for Project A' ... A 'Task list for Project A' is already achievable if you first "Zoom- in" on 'Project A' while in the Outline view, then all you have to do is your manual rearranging in the To-Do view. > make the choice to go to "Manual Sort" before the user starts > dragging (not sure how they would make that choice if the mouse > is already being held down on a particular task to drag it). How about simply pressing the Shift or Alt key before dropping? (Ctrl- drop seems to already be in use to copy the task as a new subtask to where it is dropped).
