Melody,

How do you break down your prices for enhancements? Do you have a website with
your menu? I think I might start breaking things down too. When people call on
the phone and I tell them the price for a full set $50 they freak. I really
don't know how I can break that one down. I do give $10.00 off coupons in the
paper when the stylist wants to split adds, but not one person has brought one
in. We even put coupons on back off the Schnucks reciepts. Not one person there
either. I just have been going along with the other girls because it makes it
cheaper for everyone if we split things 5 ways. It really doesn't pay to
advertise in the paper.

Also, for those of you who work in salons providing other services,  you can do
a "free" manicure on one hand..... ONE hand only!  Do polish even!  This way
the client SEES the difference between what you did and the way their hand
looks normally!  This especially works on women who rarely get manicures....
Then, if they want the other hand done, that hand costs them the full price of
the service!  This is a good "empty slot filler" activity.....

If you do a free artificial nail, pick a finger that sticks out... like the
first or middle finger of the hand they write with.... this will make them look
at it until that nail grows or falls (or gets picked....ugh) off!

I also try to get contact info on everyone who sits in my chair... including
their birthday.  I put them in my Outlook and it gives me birthday reminders
and I always email them birthday GCs that gives them a nice discount off their
service.  Even if they have come to me only once.. I still do it.  I also put
on that GC that the GC must be present to get the discount and I always include
an expiration date.

I also broke down my services into different levels at different prices in
order to compete with NSS prices.  For instance I have an Express Manicure for
$15 and a Classic Man for $20 and a Spa Man for $30…. Same with pedicures:
$25, $40 and $50… I also did this with my enhancements.  I printed out “service
menus” to put in the salon so that clients can read.  Each service has a
detailed explanation describing what each service includes.  This prevents me
from having to answer a lot of questions during a service I am providing.

I have other ideas and will post them as they pop into my brain.  Hope this is
helpful to someone….

well, michelle and meloody you guys hit it right, it is a numbers
game.  Gotta play the numbers!!! Great way to put it!
Love the coffee holder thingy, all you new techs should jump on this one!!

And also I have lost ac clients, they couldn't afford the two week
fill anylonger.  But filled those spots with pedicures and bling toes!!!

When you market yourself to only ac/gel enhancements, you are losing
biz.  Because there ARE women that don't need enhancements.
There are women that have beautiful nails and they only want pedicures.
There are men out there that want pedicures.
To me manicures and pedicures are easy money.  And the satisfaction
is immediate for the client with less cost and time for me.  Great combo!!!!

I have enough ac to get me thru my "artistic" needs and wants that we
all have.  Add these services to your menu!!!!! diana from indiana
