Melody,
This reminded me of when my oldest was getting married. I went to a stylist
that did great updos for a trial. My biggest fear was that she would not be
there the day of the wedding. Well, sure enough, she was not there. The owner
had to do it. The reason? The stylist got smashed the night before, had a fight
with her boyfriend and just could not come to work that day. The whole time the
owner did my hair, she was on the phone with another friend talking about the
whole scenario.
This business has lots of gossip and we all hear it from one another. I get it
from clients all the time about how they saw "so & so" at a function and she
was totaled. Anothter stylist actually left her client sitting in the chair to
run to her boyfriends place to finish their drama.
No thank you. Nothing can be said about me in that realm. I am a lightweight
anyway. Last week my one client brought in beer for her Testosterone Free
week-- a yearly thing she does with me each time her husband and son go skiing.
We do the works--facial, nails, pedi and she brings the beer. I wait until I
am almost done the pedi before I open mine. Just cannot drink and work.
Another thing to consider is what you put on your Facebook or My Space. I have
clients on my FB so I will not comment about anything that could be damaging,
but just like the college kids who put incriminating photos online that could
hurt them come time for job hunting, so could this hurt us.
Just my dos pesetos!!
buenos dias,
Lynnette

Another thing I feel a lot of
people in this business do NOT consider is this: YOUR PERSONAL
TIME AND HABITS DO REFLECT ON YOUR BUSINESS! If your clients….or potential
clients… see you out in public, away from where you work or not, and you
are doing drugs, being a sloppy drunk…. Missing appointments, late for
appointments, cancel appointments frequently or any undesirable or "politically
incorrect" behavior WILL REFLECT in the number of people who get on your
book!! You are on the clock
TWENTY-FOUR-SEVEN! The way you
conduct yourself away from work as well as AT work WILL, INDEED, AFFECT the
reasons
people choose to do business with you! Right or wrong… like it or not….
I have seen it too many times…. JMHO
