I don't know... I mean I wish you luck and hope you get a lot for your business
but.. I don't think I would buy a home based nail business. Ok.. so if you
have the time..maybe IF you found someone who was willing (and do you have the
room?) to work alongside you for like 3 months or so. THEN your clients would
get to know them and perhaps transistion to that tech's space when you leave.
But I think the client would have to really like this new tech otherwise the
client might go to their sister's boyfriend's aunt...who does nails
also!...just saying!
Now IF you had a salon..that is a different story..then you could sell business
and equipment. Client's would just keep going to the same place, blah, blah,
blah....

Subject: Re: NailTech:: so what are our nail businesses worth?

When I announce to my clients that I am moving, they are going to be a
combination of sad I'm leaving, happy for me and the vast majority of them
won't know who they can go to. This is something I can do for them.....find a
nailtech who will work with me for the next 3 months, get to know them, do my
nails so they can see what she does. I am not selling my clients names, I
would like to leave them with someone who I know will do a good job for them.

You do make a good point Denise, but that is definitely not what I had in mind.
I like the idea of a new tech paying the value of 1 service per client.....I
think that's fair. I am in the same boat as Lynette.....no one around here
seems to produce consistantly good work and the spas go through techs too fast
to keep anyone good around. I would like to teach someone to do it MY way and
if that person sticks with it they'll be making a good living.

so im going to play devils advocate here:

say im a client and my name gets sold. i find out, im never going to darken
your salon doorstep again. i am not a slave or possession, you can not sell
me. i will liken this to telemarketers buying name lists. it irritates me
just thinking about it.

now im nailtech that has bought this list. i just paid a googoblin amount of
cash, but im seeing no return, because i either suck as a tech or the clients
are angry for being sold and no one want to come to me. well THAT was money
wasted!!!!!!

ok...................im back to being me ;) in MY opinion its not right to
sell your client list. perhaps a better way to go is to look around for a
nailtech that does the same caliber of work that you do, interview them and
then once you've found a replacement, then give your clients their name. then
its up to them to decide if they like said recommended person or they want to
find their own.

again, just my opinion. good luck on what you decide to do :)
