Matt, I presume you mean male connectors here, at least for the master > module. Or do you mean the the female connectors on the PCB below > channel cards?
They both have pins that are soldered to the PCBs, but the male ones have thicker pins that are more susceptible to cold joints because they wick the heat away faster; therefore, the pads might get hot enough to hold the solder but the pins might not. It really depends on who was doing the soldering and how much attention they were paying to what they were doing. And, yes, I do mean the female connectors on the PCB below the channel cards. I replaced all of them on the master/buss/echo/two-buss, etc. just as a matter of course during my restoration of my Series II. I found a couple bad female connectors, so I just replaced them all because it was cheap insurance against it happening in the middle of a session. Cheers, -- Don
