What an outrageous idea! Don't you leave the RC5 client running overnight?
WIth either a DPMS capable monitor, or a manual poke to the monitor switch, power
consumption is neglible. Just make sure you don't have a screen blanker as
well, stealing cycles the RC5 client should have.
I believe too, that never switching a computer off prolongs its life--less
thermal stress and /maybe/ less HD activity per day..
