Someone called Patrick Ford didn't like my suggestion..

You manage to get 8 hours sleep a night?
Lucky man! ;-)

I don't fancy sleeping next to my computer which whirrs away with a
fan and HDD. By the time I add up the (external) psu's for the modem,
cdrom, zip drive, speakers, etc its probably well over 50W, not much I
grant you, but not "negligible" either over 8 hours.

Very questionable.

In all seriousness, I wasn't really having a go at anyone in
particular, I was just amazed at the number of people reporting
"errors" when they haven't even followed the installation procedure.
The Amiga system *will* work continuously, but it was never designed
with the inherent bomb-proofing found in Linux etc. Amiga system
administration especially pretty much *requires* you to shut down
nonessential apps before the install, and reboot after. Its the way it
works. You want to have a computer which runs all year, use a Linux
box or go chase Phase5 for their QNX implementation.

The point of my earlier mail was to say "whether you like it or not,
the whole installation process must be followed, MUI, libs, and all,
AND the reboot before you can start bitching about errors."

Ian, from inside an asbestos bin.
