Well, after poking about in the Genesis prefs with the aid of the
manual, I eventually managed to convince Genesis not to even attempt
to dial out at all, ever! Finally, I don't know quite how, I got it to
dial again, then it refused to complete the connection, with the
message "PAP Authentication refused". A days break gave Genesis time
time think, and now it's back to how it was. Guess that leaves the
serial port - my second-hand Surf Squirrel. I'll give the old miggy
port a go at some point.
