Exactly; even if all the original masters were faulty, there would be
nothing to stop Active simply pressing a new, corrected CD, and claiming
it to be from the same batch.

Well, the NC2 updates are all on the AFCD's, and Amiga users being the
lovely people they are, would be willing to send them to people who
don't have the CD's, should the active site disappear.
