I agree with both Lee and SOTL. I've been with MDK since 8.0 and became
disenchanted after installing 2005. My husband switched to Knoppix and
augmented that with the Debian-Sarge DVDs. Then he tried to get me to switch
but I felt it traitorous and still use MDV 2005. However, on a spare system,
I'm learning Kubuntu - Breezy and really like apt-get and synaptic.
Dependency hell is soon to be a thing of the past (or so I hope). In March (I
think) the next release of Kubuntu will be out and I will be switching on
both my systems.

We subscribe to Linux Magazine (the UK one, not the US one) and it comes with
a different distribution on the DVD each month. Where Mandrake/MDV excels,
aside from this great list, is in it's partitioning at installation time, no
other distribution is so easy for me to understand.

I, too, stay on this list because of the friendly advice given. The list has
made learning Linux much easier. Thanks.
