I have run it with a Gnome installation and it works perfectly. I have
tried it with KDE and all my problems have come back. Trying to sort
them, has completely messed up both KDE and XFCE. So I was just
wondering what others did.

KDE is installed here, just in case my sister has an emergency &
needs help - I haven't converted her to Xfce yet!
I can't actually remember when I last logged in to a KDE session,
but having it lurking in the background doesn't seem to have upset
my Xfce at all.
