Reminds me of that line in one of the Lethal Weapon series.  Mel asks the 
Chinese dude what's for lunch flied lice:  the old man says its fried rice, you 
plick...
Arigatou - the Japanese pronounce it with a "D," not an  'R. "  That makes it, 
addigato.  Same for zorries.  As a kid, I always just knew it was 
spelled zodies, because, after all, that's how it's pronounced?
In case you don't know, it's the Japanese footwear that Americans call 
flip-flops...
I always rode my bike with them and I even rode my motorcycles with them, and 
also my car.  Got stopped by a cop one time in Seattle who told me I had to 
have shoes on to drive my car.  He finally, hesitantly, let me go after 
throughly explaining to him that I had worn these things all my life since I 
lived in Japan, back in '56.
Upshifting is a little hard on the big toe, though, especially if it has a lot 
of hair?
