The later (at least from '09) Tacomas have the same arrangement

My tacoma has the filter right over the passenger-side upper A-arm.
Not so hard to get to, but it also has the check valve to hold oil
in the upper engine. So as soon as the filter is off all that oil
spills down on the suspension and runs everywhere. No way to get a
funnel or anything underneath it.
My mom's 4Runner on the other hand has the oil filter on top of the
engine, right in front, with a catch tray around it and a nipple on
the bottom you could attach a hose to. You could change the oil
filter in that truck while wearing your Sunday finest.

I will be happy with that situation, especially since I try to do
tire rotation every oil change.

LOL! I have a Nissan Versa that has sort of the same problem. The
oil filter is horizontally mounted in the front, near the radiator.
You have to come from above, making your arm wave through this very
complicated path, and once I get there, my arm is trapped and I
can't turn the filter. It is a real PITA.

Javier, that sounds like the ordeal I go through changing the oil
in the civic. My arm needs an extra joint to be able to snake
around the axle to get to the horizontally mounted oil filter,
which then invariably dumps oil all over my arm, the axle and the
floor like it's been laser guided.
Luckily that's an 'every six months' sort of ordeal.

I guess it depends on the model. My buddy has a f650 dualsport,
and you have to drain the oil from two different parts of the
bike, one of the drains is fairly high (where the gas tank will be
in most bikes), which makes it very complicated. You also need to
take out the fairings to do this (also if you want to get access
to the battery). After few hours of work, half of my garage and
himself cover on oil, he was able to finish the job. Now I
understand why they charge so much at the bmw dealer.
