Last time I was there was one of the Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb. We camped at Devil's Playground, that wide spot to the west at 10,000 ft just before the top. I still remember the awed feeling from walking around the top of a mountain just 300ft shorter than our Mt. Rainier. So cool. I still remember how easy it is to get so high that you cannot walk very far at all before being totally out of breath.
