Glenn I received your flow chart,  thanks for sending. Good information is
invaluable.  On my field coil stator, 12v dc has to be supplied to field
coil to " turn on " magnetic field .  The harness has a 3 pin plug that
goes to reg/rectifier.  In that plug there is one black wire that supplies
12v with key on, one r/w wire always hot, and one ground wire. But when I
turn key on and check voltage coming from key it is 1 volt or more lower
than battery. Checked same black wire for continuity to ground and has
continuity. So it seems I have a shorted 12v + wire or switch that is
shorting out. Also seems like I'd be blowing fuses but am not.
