My notes on converting Linksys WRT54G into switch / wireless unit,  Some of this is probably not needed.

 Add unit into your router as a static IP Address.   MAC number on bottom of unit.
 Plugin 12v only.
 Reset: Three seconds on reset.
 Access: LAN port #1(?) 192.168.1.1, User empty, Password admin.
 Wireless:
   Basic Wireless Settings:
     Wireless Network Mode = Mixed
     Wireless Network Name  (SSID) = JoeBlow
     Wireless Channel: = ????
     Wireless SSID Broadcast: = Enable
   Wireless Security:  (If OSLA)
     Security Mode: = 
       Configure if used.
 Security
     Firewall
       Turn off everything you can.
     VPN
       IPSec Pass Through = Enable
       PPTP Pass Through = Enable
       L2TP Pass Through = Enable
 Administration:
     Management:
       Local Area Access:  Set password
       Remote Router Access: Enable, port 8080
       Access Server = HTTP
       Wireless Access web = Enable  (Probably will not work anyway)
       Remote management = Enable
 Setup
   Basic Setup
     Internet setup:
       Internet Configuration Type = Static
       Internet IP Addresss = 192.168.xxx.xxx  The new static address.
       Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
       Gateway = 192.168.xxx.xxx
       Router Name = wifi-xxxx
       Host (Device) Name = wifi-xxxx
     Network Setup:
       Local IP Address = 192.168.xxx.xxx  Set to address that will never be used from main router.
       SAVE - RECONNECT browser access using above IP Address.
       DHCP Server = Disable
     Time Setting:  Central  (Not needed?)
   Advanced Routing
       Operating Mode = Routing.
       Dynamic Routing = Disabled
 SAVE
 Connect WAN side to Port #1.
 Pull / insert 12v and test.
