For me
it is not the resolution of my monitor, but the refresh rate that causes
problems. With regard to florescent lights especially, you want to be sure that
your refresh rate is as far off from 60Hz as is possible. Florescent lights
flicker at 60Hz and the interaction between a monitor flickering at the same
refresh rate and the lighting creates a worse effect that either flicker
alone. I avoid using florescent lighting when possible, but if not I
won't run a refresh rate lower that 85Hz if I can help
it.
I like
the idea of anti-glare glasses though. I am assuming that these are
polarized lenses, which should cut down on the amount that ambient florescent
lighting you see reflected back at you from the monitor.
