We had an attempted theft from our home a few years back when I awoke to our bull mastiff barking at 5am on a summer's Sunday morning. I sleepily wandered out into our driveway to find two guys standing next to a pile of power tools, sports equipment etc and our garage door wide open. Our eyes met and one of them kind of smirked at me. At that moment Diego emerged from behind me and launched himself with a deep woof. I have never seen anyone's eyes widen so much and turn and run so fast as those two guys!
Anyway, the ADT guy told me that these guys wander around neighbourhoods with a set of stolen remotes and randomly press them - until someone's gate happens to be on the same frequency and opens. Haven't confirmed that though....And not sure what to do about it if it is true... The alarm attached to our beams went off & when we went to investigate we saw that the gate that leads to where we park our cars was open enough to let some one walk in. I really don't understand how this can be - the gate is controlled by a remote. It was not off its rails - my husband was able to use the remote to close the gate, so it hadn't been taken off the rails - which would have made sense if the gate was open. And both my husband and the ADT guy tried to move the gate when it was closed & it would not move - it is impossible to move it. Do you think it is possible that there is another remote that can open our gate? I really don't understand how else it could have been opened. Does anyone have any ideas? Also wanted to say thanks to ADT - once again they were really quick - they were at our house within a minute. And they are so friendly & helpful - glad to have them around.
