FUD? Oracle is playing a dirty game with Opensolaris contributors which is to my knowledge unheard in the history of Open Source. I attached an email which came through the list today and I'd imagine this is the last before her resignation email - this came through on irc.freenode/#opensolaris: [02:19:40] *** fleyta has joined #opensolaris [02:21:18] <fleyta> Has any one a pointer to a project lead resignation mail? [02:21:27] <fleyta> I need a template. Shortsighted Oracle management - Open source: 1 - 0 Customers better vote with their feet if >this< is the glory future Oracle is preparing for Opensolaris. Even Linux is better in such a case. At least Linus and his people have the dignity to be open, reasonably fair and treat their contributor with respect. Of course, OGB had their heads in the sand like all puppet politicians. To: Korn Shell 93 integration/migration project discussion <ksh93-integration-disc...@opensolaris.org>, on-disc...@opensolaris.org, David Comay <david.co...@sun.com> Cc: advocacy-disc...@opensolaris.org, jo...@sun.com, venkateshwara...@sun.com, jeb.dast...@oracle.com, John Beck <john.b...@oracle.com>, jmcp <james.mcpher...@sun.com> Even thinking about the the question hurts, but I have to ask this because Oracle did not provide answers for many questions related to the ksh93-integration, shell and POSIX utility modernisation projects and I am the current project lead of the ksh93-integration and POSIX utility modernisation projects. My duty is to find answers. Does Oracle still want these projects at all, really *want*? Work *together*, and not just a piecemeal like in the mail I added at the end? I am asking this because *critical* questions have either not been answered at all or delegated to a point in the future. First a week. Then 2 weeks. Then we instructed to do more testing to prove that we pass the UNIX certification tests, which we pass. Another couple of weeks passed. We asked some design questions. No answers, just deadlines passed. At least *I* am greatly embittered about this. Greatly, with *pain*. A lot of people who help with the project are embittered, too. I do have to ask this, because less than 5% of our changes are in ON and the other changes to make the Solaris POSIX user land utilities pass the SUSv4 tests and add GNU and BSD option are in different stages of *WAIT*, like final testing or ARC. I think this is a shame that this is progressing this slowly but we still want work on it. We like this work, we like to help, we like to innovate, we like to work for Solaris and make it much better. It is hard work, but I like to have *answers* because we don't want to work for nothing, and it is better for us to stop now if Oracle doesn't *want* this work to happen. What I said was that conversion of any *new* utilities to ksh93 is on hold. Bug fixes in ksh93, its libraries, and previously converted utilities are all welcome. -- John Sponsor my 100-mile bike ride fund raiser for the American Lung Association http://action.lungusa.org/goto/jbeck -- , _ _ , { \/`o;====- Olga Kryzhanovska -====;o`\/ } .----'-/`-/ olga.kryzhanov...@gmail.com \-`\-'----. `'-..-| / http://twitter.com/fleyta \ |-..-'` /\/\ Solaris/BSD//C/C++ programmer /\/\ `--` `--` _______________________________________________ ksh93-integration-discuss mailing list ksh93-integration-disc...@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ksh93-integration-discuss _______________________________________________ ogb-discuss mailing list ogb-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ogb-discuss
