That's like saying that Poker and Old Maid are both good games -- so their
underlying framework doesn't really matter, does it?

Well, actually, it does.

D20 is nice so long as you don't have a good reason to do something non-D20 with
your rule system. The minute you do (and I can think of a half dozen game
systems off the top of my head which do) the D20 ceases to be useful.
