True, but you get increased buying power if you do have a trademarked logo on your product. And if you have such a logo that promote an open system, you can create a network of compatible products from third-party publisher (who will use your royalty-free trademark use license) and increase the buying power even more. > second, there's the potential loophole in the D20STL of referencing a > non-OGC, non-D20, product that has character creation rules. Exactly what loophole are you referring to, in case I have overlooked it. Because AFAIC, both trademark license and OGL would prevent you from referring to any other trademarked product without the trademark owner's permission. > third, "classless" is easy--just set up a game that only has one class, > with lots of flexibility in skill and feat selection, and put any > "class" powers that you want to keep into the feat or skill systems. > you could probably even manage it under the D20STL. Yes, I did mentioned that loophole in my post above, utilizing the class feature. > as for level-less: a friend of mine is working on that. a cyberpunk > RPG based on D20, and, much like the CP2020 system, classes might > survive, but levels probably won't. there are numerous ways to manage > that with D20, some of them quite easy. i'd have to think a bit to see > if any of them are possible under the no-advancement-explanation rule > of the D20STL. Perhaps by writing into your product two things: 1. XP Award (if it's different from the SRD) 2. XP Conversion Chart to Skill Points, Cost of Ability score increase, etc. Of course, it's up to the gamer-consumer to put two and two together. _______________________________________________ Ogf-l mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/ogf-l
