>>>Given that the OGL is exactly about using other peoples work, I think
it's kind of contradictory to suggest otherwise."

Actually the OGL is about using very specific aspects of other people's
work. The SRD started the process by offering the rules to d20. Not the
world. The rules.

 >>>Frankly, for me the whole D20 and OGL thing is still a "maybe" as it is

No it isn't. The information released under the OGL in the SRD as d20 is
released. It can't be "unreleased" so it is not a maybe by any judgement.

 >>>I am very interested in "open" concepts, which have everything to do
with the ability to reuse.

Great. But the problem is that people are arguing about why they can't use
things that aren't open and what "should" be open. If it is open, use
it. If it isn't. Tough. Come up with something else.

 >>>If your not interested in reuse at all then you don't need to be
concerned about open issues, because they probably won't affect you.

I am completely interested in reuse. What I am not interested in is
hearing why it is "wrong" that A is open and B isn't. What I am not
interested in is why it isn't ok to use things that aren't open. The
concepts are simple and I am shocked that there are even arguments. This
stuff is common sense. If it is open say thank you and use it. If it isn't
don't use it and come up with your own stuff.
