Absolutely derivative. You're generating a number from 1 to 20, of which
higher is better, and comparing it to a target number to determine success. The only thing you did was change the method of generating that number a tiny
bit.

whoah: who said "higher is better, and comparing it to a target number to determine success"? that part's all part of the D20SRD, and we're not changing it, nor claiming it has anything to do with mid20, or putting it into the definition of how to roll mid20. *all* we're changing is "generating a number from 1 to 20", and plugging that in. Surely *that* can't be copyrighted/patented/trademarked?
