I have been thinking about this as part of the structural design of the
new web site. I envision a global mailing list for the entire open
graphics project. General "meta" issues and new product/project ideas
would be discussed there. Then when an idea gets to the point where it
will actually get done, a new sub-project is created. The sub project
will have a separate mailing list (or maybe more than one, depends on
the organisation a bit) where technical discussion on that project
takes place. User support would mainly go through a forum/issue tracker
on the web site; that lowers the barrier for less technically inclined
users.

Something like that at least. Incidentally, I haven't looked at the wiki
for a while, but I have been reading the list, and I must say I don't
feel very well informed about the project. My lack of experience in
hardware probably helps with that, but I also think we need that web
site to get all the information together in a single, easy to access
place.

I'm currently tinkering with Drupal, which is quite nice. I've looked at
Trac for project management, but decided that it wouldn't be a good
idea. Drupal is written in PHP, Trac in Python, and Trac relies on
ClearSilver which is a C/CGI template engine. Integrating that...well
let's say I'd rather see what I can add to Drupal to get it to do
project management. It already has modules for issue tracking, forums
and collaborative writing of books (documentation!). I haven't looked
into the module API in detail yet, but the architecture seems nice
enough.

I've also polished the open window logo a bit more:

That's a rather large version, move away from your monitor a little for
the full effect. Oh, and you can watch me tinker at
