In this vein, perhaps the place for this is http://wiki.duskglow.com/tiki-index.php?page=AboutOpenGraphics under the Vision section. It looks like that's a place where it's possible to change wording from open source to free, perhaps with a link thrown in, without damaging the brand or being ambiguous. I'm largely an outsider to this project at this point, but it seems to me like the ideals of this project are very closely aligned to those of the FSF, especially when compared to other similar products. If you look at how Nokia has put together Maemo, there's plenty of code reuse, but also plenty of closed source stuff in fundamental parts of the OS, as implemented on their hardware. It seems that most companies find it very difficult to cede control of their software to the point where they meet the FSF's definition of free software. Note that if the FSF helps publicize the project, it's not just a boon for OG, it also lends them a lot of credibility when a project like this is successful, by increasing the practical viability of running mostly or only free software. _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
