Documented Video Project ?
There has been discussion in the past of other products, such as an audio
device, a/v/x server, SATA controller, mainboard, ... Would there be a new
project for each of these? If so, then each project will have problems getting
publicity started up. If not, then graphics/video is too restrictive a name.
My philosophy has been to show focus first, and then broaden when you
can do it safely. I believe there's value in remaining a "Graphics"
project for a few reasons. One is that it's a sore spot in the FOSS
community, moreso than for any other kind of peripheral, and it will
always be that kind of issue. The other is that it shows that we're
not getting distrated by so many neat ideas that we never actually
make anything. Once the Graphics side has been established, we can
create another "Project" that does "everything else," but we should
always have the Graphics project as an anchor.
I'm sure we can name a few companies whose names seem limited compared
to what they now sell. How about NCR?
