Sounds like Timothy wants the discussion moved off the OGP list.
Feel free to move it to the Open Hardware list, which was created in
part to handle discussions that are partly or completely off-topic
for the OGP list.

At the risk of being "too exploratory"

        There was that audio project that had a fair bit of
        discussion.

        Various controllers that could eventually be combined into a
        "chipset".

        A DSP board or box?  The

        one that James found looks promising.

        An analog to digital board or box.  Digital oscilloscope, spectrum 
analyzer.
        Increase frequency range of SA using mixer in TV tuner chip (e.g. 
TUA6034).

If these or other ideas generate too much traffic, they should probably move
to the Open Hardware list, allowing the OPG list to stay mostly focused on
OGD1.
