DX did this. All but the earth model were converted to DX format with a 3D model converter I'll release soon. In the earth model, the ground and cloud textures from J. Hasting's earth texture archive: http://gw.marketingden.com/planets/earth.html were simply applied to regular grids and sphere mapped (the ground is nearest neighbor, and the clouds are mipmapped and linear interpolated).
