 |So, do you have a DX-Inventor, Inventor-DX converter? (I actually
 |need the former to export DX objects to Open Inventor for our
 |VRScape-based CAVE. If there is a cost, let me know.)

Thanks. No, not Inventor. But it does handle Performer. It's an exporter
built on OpenSceneGraph (www.openscenegraph.org), which has importers for
3D Studio (3ds), Design Workshop (dw), OpenFlight (flt), Lightwave (lwo),
Wavefront (obj), and Performer (pfb). Coupled with Polytrans it should be
able to connect to most 3D model formats.

There won't be any cost. I'm going to integrate it into the OpenSceneGraph
distribution pretty soon so it'll be standard. As OpenSceneGraph
developers improve the importers and add new ones, OSG will be able to
export those to DX format as well.
