Have a little patience - DX can't be learned
in one hour, but the amount of time it will
save you later maybe worth the investment,
depending on your application.
DX's strength isn't in making plots
and its true there is little analysis in the 
traditional sense, but you can extend DX and
write your own modules or link in your code
(though it doesn't sound like your in the mood).
