Here's a glowing-spark testimonial:
I just downloaded openDX 4.0.7 for RedHat Linux last week and I'm really
excited about learning how to use it for illustrating groundwater models.
I can't believe that it's free.
I used DX briefly on a SGI Oynx workstation, but it was too complicated
and then the license expired. Now that I have it at home on my linux box,
I can work on the tutorials any time of day. I wonder if that is a
partial reason for IBM making DX open source - so that more people can
afford to learn how to use it, or did they discontinue their product
(forgive my ignorance, I'm new to the list and DX)?
I get a lot of server disconnects and can't figure out why, but it's a
simple matter to restart the server.
I'm currently running RedHat 6.0 on a
PIII/450
Diamond Stealth 2MB, 19" monitor
I could sure use a better graphics card that supports higher bpp at
1280x1024.
