I don't see the point of going into details of RCs for Eclipse and Canonical/Ubuntu etc as they have lots of testers but OpenOCD seems does not. I can't see why you right now want a new release at all. If you do, it appears to be a time-based one. I have no idea who you think the legion of testers will be, my guess is about 4 people. I'm not sure if 4 is an overestimate. I see various people trying to make useful changes (for which I am potentially grateful so please carry on guys!). I suppose the master would be what I'd get if I wanted an up to date version. To be clear: I don't care if there's a "new release" or not. I care even less what it's called although it really ought to have a number that reflects whatever noteworthy changes it has. (Which are?) Or failing that it may as well have a time-based number. Even better if it gets real tough testing but I don't actually see that happening except down the line over the months.
