No, I tried the KDE image with the same result. The problem must be somewhere in the boot process, I don't see how the amount of desktop GUI apps piled on top of the base has anything to do with the boot process. I didn't see an explanation of what the different options (JeOS, KDE, E20, LXQT, etc) actually do, and at least for half of them I can't guess.
