Performance is ulikely to change much.  The best way to make sure it
performs well would be to make CEGUI use the OSG completely for
rendering, and take advantage of culling and state sorting.  However,
this really isn't practical.

Other than that, the behavior is so erratic that I don't even know where
to start to look in my implementation; but I don't have experience enough
with OSG or CEGUI to know what could be failing in yours...

I really can't help on CEGUI front.  Others in the OSG community use
CEGUI so hopefully they'll pipe up.
