An alternative form of attribution are links to the services and software we use. These are I think always appreciated. Links would be informative for users and would show what we use, rather than just saying it. I would rather have attribution with links to my projects than statements of thanks, however sincere. Attributions are statements of facts and do not imply endorsement.

-0 for "Thanks" for this release from me because I don't think we have time to define our guidelines for what should be included, and I wouldn't want to add thanks for a project and then take it away.

+0 for a "Thanks" section. I have no objection, but do we need to thank Ubuntu? Debian? The Linux and Apache Foundations? Their contributors? Do we have a rule of thumb for who we thank?

Kind regards,
Ben.
