I'm pretty new to Owfs and have been using Digitemp until I decided to use a relay with DS2406 switches. So figured I better learn to use Owfs. It has not been good! I get the same issue with the DS18S20 reading 85C in my house.
I know that Digitemp != Owfs, but Digitemp works fine with the DS2409P 6channel Master Hub from Hobby-Boards. I reduced my whole network of temp sensors to just one and the Hub to eliminate possibles. I have the DS18S20 on the hub powered, but just changed it to parasitic and same results. Maybe it is something I am doing wrong, cause I can't get owread to work. I have to 'cat' for the results of the temp. I have also tried uncached and same results. I have tried owfs-2.5p10, owfs-2.6p7, owfs-2.7p0. Since I am new to Owfs, but not to using Linux I will post how getting the info in a limited way. That way if I am not having the same issue as these other folks maybe someone can point it out. 1) # modprobe fuse (shows up in lsmod) 2) # ls ~/1wire (nothing there yet, good) 3) # owfs -d /dev/ttyS0 --error_print 2 --error_level 4 ~/1wire CONNECT: fuse mount point: /root/1wire CALL: PARSENAME path=[] 4) # ls ~/1wire 1F.66BD04000000 1F.67BD04000000 bus.0 settings statistics structure system uncached (so, it is populated and sees my hub.) 5) ls ~/1wire/1F.66BD04000000/main/ 10.381755010800 alarm simultaneous The DS18S20 here is the only thing on the hub right now and is on the main branch. Results: 1) cat ~/1wire/1F.66BD04000000/main/10.381755010800/temperature 85 2) cat ~/1wire/uncached/1F.66BD04000000/main/10.381755010800/temperature 85 3) I can't get owread to do anything, maybe I am using it wrong and have to start owserver. Not sure yet, still trying to get all this documentation clear. Just so you know that I hardware does seem fine and it seems to be the way either I am doing it or the way owfs is reading it. # digitemp -a -q Dec 06 11:59:09 Sensor 0 C: 17.81 F: 64.06 So I am having a time of it figuring if my fault or owfs. Any help or clues or has this been fixed and I am not using owfs correctly. FYI: Gentoo Linux, Hobby-Board 6 Channel Master Hub with 1 DS18S20 temp sensor: (Have tried it powered and parasitic).
