Didn't Palm have some incentive to NOT have this be a public forum because they didn't
want anyone but registered developers with
signed NDAs finding out about this stuff?
If we moved this entire forum to DejaNews, would we be in violation of our NDAs?
And don't forget - we give Palm free beta testing and developer feedback.
But you're right - I could see Palm looking at developer services as the next big arm
of their revenue source besides licensing the
PalmOS.
But I agree with others who said they could not have developed for Palm without this
forum. I fully intend to include the Palm
Forum in my credits.
And developers do go where the support is. I love the Sony Clie support - $140 for
three questions, but they decide how many
questions you asked.
"Can I develop software for your Clie? Do you give out any hardware info on the
color model?"
"We have determined this represents 5 logical questions, so we have charged you $280.
The answer is "it depends."" If you require
elaboration on our answer, please re-register as a new developer.**
** This representation of Sony dev support was slightly exaggerated for humor value.
In real life, there would not have been an
immediate response like I implied.
