You can format the drive using OS X's Disk Utility when XpostFacto 
boots the OS X CD for your install. When the installer launches, one 
of the menu-bar items can select Disk Utility. IIRC

I'm not sure if this is any better than 9.x's Drive Setup but it may 
support more drives. OTOH, I had a problem with a drive that neither 
Disk Warrior nor Norton could fix but Disk Utility could.
