I can't remember the situation where I used the Disk Utility menu item. It could very well have been during a clean install on a newer supported Mac. This may not be possible during an Xpostfacto upgrade. There should, however, be a checkbox in the installation screens for a clean install of OS X. I wonder if this would be of any help. I'm sorry about the error. Even still, I think Disk Utility should be available during any install or upgrade. When you've tried everything, you might want to e-mail Ryan, the author of Xpostfacto.
