Don't know if you'll scoff at this, but a couple of times I've been
stuck for one Air Horn to Float Boal screw on 50's carbs.
Took one of the similar screws that I had plenty of and using 
a sharp 3-cornered small file, I cut across the screw threads
(the file parallel to the screw) at the leading 3 threads or so.
I still have that little self-tapper and it works fine - way easier of course 
in aluminum casting.  I backed it out frequently and used Rapid Tap cutting
fluid on it.
