Hard to say about problems, my guess is they probably wouldn't cause any.

But, they most likely won't do much if you already have your modem properly 
set up. The most they do is tweak init strings and maybe do some fancy 
caching. It may help a bit, but you can only stuff so much stuff through 
56k and programs on your end can't change that. If it's a free download, 
can't hurt to try it, but I wouldn't pay anything for it.

The most speed increase you're going to see is maybe 15-20% if you're 
really really really lucky. If it does anything at all you're more likely 
to max out at 5%. Don't listen to the "Double your speed!!" claims.
