Hope you don't feel bad about this but I hate Epson printers and unless I get one for free from purchasing a new Mac I wouldn't waste my money on any more of them. I had Epson 500 & 600 and both were pretty crappy. The 500 (purchased used) had that problem very often, with time when printing a photo or image it would leave a line of about 1 pixel for every (I would say) eight, throughout the whole page/image (something like an interlaced pattern), printing in 720dpi would fix the problem but the ink would run out so quickly! The Epson 600 (purchased NEW) went south just when I replaced the ink cartridge, followed all the directions to the letter (w/ Epson cartridge and the same procedure I did when it was new) but no ink would show up, NONE AT ALL! Cleaning and replacing ink nothing worked! I was unlucky enough to know that my 1 year warranty had expired only 2 days before!
I sold both of them a long time ago and since then I didn't have any printer at all. Not long ago I saw a StyleWriter1500 for about $12 in eBay, and couldn't resist bidding for it, (great printer!) no wonder Apple put their name on them. Despite it's age and being purchased as "used in school district", it's working great, the printing quality (while a little darker) it's better than the Epson 500. I do need to syncronize my monitor with what comes out of the printer (does anyone know how?) but when it comes to printing problems I haven't got any.
