It should be pressed whenever something is added to or subtracted from the logic board. If that doesn't solve it you can try a hard reset by unplugging the Mac and removing the PRAM battery overnight. I had to do this recently with my 9600 after installing a PC card. Also, at least in my 9600, some cards don't like some slots, especially with other cards installed. All six slots in my 9600 are occupied, and it took a bit of trial and error to find a stable order for the cards.
