Check your RAM. It could be a dead SCSI port, but check your RAM first. I had a similar problem where I had to do that on my 7600 or it wouldn't boot. (BTW, you're now running everything off the slower 5 mb/sec external bus) All sorts of contortions...the system would work with a G3 upgrade or the original 120 card, but not my G4 at all, I struggled with it for quite a while then gave up. Until I got a new 128 mb RAM stick. Plugged it in, most of my memory was unrecognized. I then tested every ram stick separately, all worked. It wasn't until I tried some old 16 mb sticks in conjunction with the 128 I had problems. I took the old ram out, everything ran. I restored my SCSI to the internal port, everything ran (and noticeably faster!) I tried my G4 card, it worked fine. Moral of the story: bad RAM can do really, REALLY weird things to you! > BTW is it possible to screw up a video card (ATI RAGE 128) by zapping > the > PRAM too many times? Was it close to where the Cuda switch was? You might have just knocked it a little loose. I don't know about the 7300, but in the 7600, here are no screws holding PCI cards in place, only the friction of the slot. -- Wherever you go, there you are.
