I use Netscape 7 on a 5500/225 with 64 MB of RAM and Mac OS 8.6. I haven't had any of the problems you stated. It is true that Netscape likes OS 9 better than OS 8.6 but most things are like that. The launch time on Nescape 7 is what I don't like about it. It takes so long. I think with Mac OS X Netscape 7 comes with Quick Launch which makes it twice as fast. (I tried it)
