I'm running 4.79 as my primary, (4.75 on some of my other workstations
because I haven't bothered to update them.) but also have 6 and 7 installed
on my primary Mac as a comparison test. I don't have any conflict
(preference) problems with them. I use different User folders for each,
which may be the reason. (If you are having conflicts, try setting up a new
User folder with a slightly different name for each. (I added NS6 to my User
folder name for 6 and NS7 for 7.) I also do not keep my User folders in the
OS preferences. I keep them on a drive that is dedicated to internet only
software, which keeps fragmentation of my OS drive to a minimum. I noticed
that 6 will remember its User folder and open directly through it, while 7
will ask me to select a User folder each time it starts. This may be a
setting problem but I haven't had the time to really play with it yet. It
just means an extra click on start up, as it highlights the correct folder.

7 seems to have better on screen video opening capabilities than the others.
(Possibly due to newer .mpg plug ins?)

I don't like the fact that neither 6 nor 7 see frames properly. I get the
menu bar positioned to the left of screen in its proper position on my own
website. The rest of the screen to the right, which contains the window
accessed by the menu bar, remains blank. I've had no problems with anyone
viewing my site with any earlier version of NS nor I.E. since I put it up
many years ago. It uses older and very simple frame programing for the
reason that I wanted anyone to be able to open it quickly. (I'd appreciate
it if someone would look at my site using 6 or 7 and see if they have the
same problem. http://dallenmarket.bizhosting.com ) I'd hate to have to redo
my (and many of my customers') sites because NS decided it was obsolete
technology!
