Ah, you probably don't like the default 'Modern' theme, and the sidebar is open. Grab the sidebar at the little 'knurled' part in the middle of the vertical bar, and slide it closed to the left. It stays that way. Go to <http://www.mozdev.org/redirect/themes/> or <http://mozilla.deskmod.com/?show=showcat&cat_name=mozilla> and get a new theme for the browser. I recommend 'Little Breeze', nice, clean unobtrusive theme. No icons is chosen in the Appearance prefs pane, (at least it is with Mozilla). While you're in Prefs, go to "Advanced', 'Scripts and Plug-ins' and uncheck 'Open unrequested windows'. No Mo Pop-ups. > > -- "Wherever you go, there you are." - B.
