Are you running version 1.6 of the QuickDraw 3D RAVE extension?

While this card has been great running 3D apps, it's given me fits
trying to get games (including the ones you've mentioned) running under
9.1 and 9.2.2. After a fresh install of the system, then the ATI
software followed by the card, I get to the monitor resolution
switching process and the mac freezes.

After playing with various extension set-up's I had it working great by
not loading the ATI ROM Xtender and the ATI 8500 3D Accelerator.
(possible fluke?)

Switched the card and the system HD from an 8600 to a 9600 and I've got
the same game problems.

I never had these issues with my Rage Orion. Might have to use the sons
computer for the gaming stuff.
